Queensferry Ambition
Queensferry Business Association has launched an ambitious project to protect and secure future development plans for South Queensferry.
With so many community, business expansion, and development plans rapidly unfolding across Queensferry, concerns were raised by QBA members about lack of cohesion and co-ordination of projects. There were fears parts of the town would be missed out in development plans and concerns that lucrative grants and council cash could be wasted with projects overlapping or failing to co-ordinate, and some works having to be re-addressed. In an innovative move to champion a co-ordinated approach, the QBA met with and gained the support of Councillor George Grubb, the town's community council and Edinburgh City Council's planning officials. They also secured the services of experienced project managers Goddard & Socha to form and co-ordinate a town-wide stakeholder group and an executive decision making body which will manage a team of respected design and transportation professionals to define a long term vision in the form of a design framework for the town. Goddard and Socha previously worked on a design framework for Kirkcaldy in Fife. Joanna Goddard said: "Kirkcaldy was a success due to a structured communication process and full stakeholder representation. That means everyone — residents, investors, council officials and developers — all sitting at the same table."
