HAWES PIER REFURBISHMENT

A tender for the above contract has been accepted and that work will commence on site on 21 June 2010. The works comprise of constructing a new steel sheet pile sidewall and deck surface at the north west section of the pier, (currently closed off). Unfortunately the whole west side of the pier will be required for the site operations and materials storage. The pier users were advised of this prior to tender issue and have agreed to work together and around this inconvenience until the pier is repaired. The contractor will also have a site office compound at the west end of the promenade car park.

The contract period will be 12 weeks and the contractor for the works is R J McLeod (Contractors) Ltd. Every effort will be made to minimise disruption resulting from the works, however some will be unavoidable. Residents and businesses will be kept informed as required through letters and personal visits from staff or contractors.
