Dear QBA Member,
Firstly, I would like to introduce myself – I am Andrew Bourke, your new Chairman of the QBA. At the recent AGM, longstanding Chairperson and committee member, Dougie Flett, stepped down after 12 years service on the committee. I would like to thank Dougie for all his hard work and dedication over this period.
As well as myself being appointed as new Chairperson, Fiona Grant will continue as secretary. We welcome one new committee member, Ruth Dewar from Forth Tours, with Ed Kelly, Karen Grant and Diane Brown continuing from last year. We still have some positions available on the committee and would like to hear from any interested members.
At the most recent committee meeting on 6th December 2011, the QBA committee confirmed it’s commitment to work hand in hand with the Queensferry Ambition BIDS project and Diane Brown, the Project manager. It was felt that while we may be separate organisations, we all have the same aim for business growth in South Queensferry and harbor the same ambitions.
I am sure you will agree that every business owner, whether having a frontage and paying rates, or working from home, or even being a business with an interest in South Queensferry, we all share the same goal of a more cohesive approach to business development in South Queensferry.
No business owner or manager needs to be told about how difficult it is now to do business nor how difficult it may be in the coming years, therefore the committee feel that it is best to work together with Diane and the BIDs steering group in the coming months until it is known if the BID will go ahead or not.
As both the QBA and BIDS have the same goals for South Queensferry businesses, we can and should work together in these exciting months ahead.
We would be delighted to find out your views, as you are our existing members.
As the new Chairperson, please feel free to contact me in the first instance either by phone or email in relation to this or any QBA matter.
As a Committee we have your best interests at heart and would also be very keen to find out if you are going to continue with your membership. If not, please let us know, and if possible the reason why.
As mentioned earlier, there are exciting times ahead and we would welcome any new or existing members onto the committee.
