School Enterprise Awards

Queensferry Schools Enterprise Awards were begun by the QBA in 2004, aiming to –
  • promote the youth of the town
  • promote ideas for tourism in the area
  • promote a sense of belonging to a good place
  • promote business in the minds of the next generation
The QBA asked the schools for projects in these categories -
  • Business ideas for Queensferry
  • Tourism ideas for Queensferry
  • Environmental & Infrastructure ideas for Queensferry and surrounds
On 30th September 2005 the first Enterprise awards were handed out to Local Primary schools. Pupils from Queensferry Primary, St Margarets and Echline Primary all gave presentations of the highest standard. Lady Hopetoun presented cheques to the schools, with Echline receiving an outstanding award for its excellent ECO Project! Thanks go to not only the pupils and teachers from the 3 primaries, but also Moira Cunningham, Dougie Flett, Ann McKechnie and Kirsty Hodge of the Queensferry Business Association who worked so hard to make these awards a reality.

2006

There were some excellent projects presented by all three Primary Schools.
  • Last years Outstanding Award was received by Queensferry Primary School for their Health & Fitness project
  • Echline Primary submitted an Enterprise project. The P7 students had to devise games to raise money at their school fun day. They had to devise their own team game and execute the whole program themselves, for example: advertising, cost and design, and profit margins.
  • St Margaret's Primary submitted their Eco / Fundraising project. They designed garden for Dalmeny train station, a competition which Queensferry in Bloom held, and the children also helped plant the garden up. They additionally raised funds for children in Africa throughout the term.
Lady Rosebery presented the cheques to the schools at Orocco Pier.
